Riga – 5 Instagram spots you need to check

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Instagram-spots section!

This time we fly to Riga, the wonderful capital of Latvia. This hidden gem is located close to the shore of Baltic Sea and was part of the Hanseatic league between 12th and 16th century.

I’ll be honest, I was quite sceptic about the photographic potential of this city, but I’ve been denied from the very first moment.

It’s been really hard to pick just 5 five spots and you can find all of my pictures from Riga

on my Instagram feed.

Without further ado, here there are my top 5 Instagram spots in Riga:

1) Blackheads house.

Useful information:

  • Cost: 6€ adults – 3€ students/children – 15€ guided tours.
  • Tip: Riga isn’t a crowded city but this is the busiest spot, so be patient and wait for people to go. Frontal perspective is the best one.
  • Best time to go: Sunrise (in winter there’s no light until 9am). (Crowd level: high)

2) Holy Trinity church.

Useful information:

  • Cost: Free. (2€ one way by bus)
  • Tip: This spot isn’t located in central Riga. Take bus 54 from the train station (cost: 2€) and get off at Nometņu iela stop.
  • Best time to go:  Any time of the day (avoid holy mass times). (Crowd level: low)

3) Restorāns 1221.

Useful information:

  • Cost: Free.
  • Tip: Include the red house on the left to have a warm contrast in your picture.
  • Best time to go:  Right after sunset. (Crowd level: medium)

4) The Three Brothers.

Useful information:

  • Cost: Free.
  • Tip: The three buildings are located in a quite narrow street, so either try an angle perspective or bring a wide lens with you.
  • Best time to go: Sunrise or early in the morning. (Crowd level: medium)

5) Januiela. (street)

Useful information:

  • Cost: Free.
  • Tip: Both sides of the street are very photogenic, so don’t forget to look back.
  • Best time to go: Sunrise. (Crowd level: high)

That’s all, I do hope this will help you with your Instagram pictures in Riga.
